Hurricane Thoughts

I have no good words to write, so I will steal extensively from Left in Lowell with whom I had an excellent chat last week.

The water is still rising. The French Quarter will probably not be saved. The parts of NO that have not gone under are threatened......

No matter how many people expected this, the devastation is too much to comprehend.

If you have any money to spare at all, it is needed. Here is the Red Cross link directly.

Right now I could start trying to conduct an analysis of the oil and gas markets. It looks like it could be brutal, but Hale Stewart at BOPNews is doing a fine job of pulling things together. Import access and refinary availability look like those are going to be the choke points. The release of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve is an appropriate reaction, but it will not do a lot of good if electricity and safety concerns keeps the Southern refineries closed.

I don't have a lot more to say except please help in anyway that you can find a way to do so.
